This past week
A chat with PFL LHW finalist Rob Wilkinson, some writing & live event coverage to come
Right, almost forgot to put this together for the week but found a bit of time to get it in.
Today (in about four hours) I’ll be covering the Beatdown Promotions 2 weigh-ins live on Instagram & Twitter (more on that below) so I’m super keen for that. Local fight weekends are fucking good weekends. The event follows on Saturday.
Other than that it’s been a slow week content-wise - life-wise eventful though. Woke up early one morning to my dog in the chook pen. Safe to say we no longer get any eggs for brekky every morning now. And how about UFC Perth?!? Fucking belter to finally have an Australian card announced. Best believe I will be there.
In the coming weeks I’ll be chatting to Shannon Ross as he gears up for a rumoured debut at UFC Perth. I’m interested in getting the details on all that, so keep an eye peeled. Also got something else cooking with Shannon in the long term but I’m not ready to share too much about that yet.
Anyway, that’s enough rambling at the minute - here’s the good stuff:
Interviews/videos:
Got a good chat in with PFL LHW Finalst Rob Wilkinson as he gears up to challenge for a world title and cold hard mil in cash on November 25th. Touched on a few things but I loved his candidness on the UFC stint and the need to rebuild his striking from the ground up - oh, and the part where he said he cut 14 kilos in a week before the Adesanya fight.

Coming up
This afternoon from 1-3 pm (AEST) I’ll have boots on the ground at the weigh-ins for Beatdown Promotions 2, live-streaming the event on Instagram and tweeting as we go: @cferg_mma for both… I’ll put links so there’s less effort required on your behalf.
Then tomorrow (Saturday) from 5:30 pm you can catch the whole Beatdown event over on their YouTube channel for FREE - and beginning with the professional card you can catch me and Tristan Lauder over on the Split Decision YouTube channel offering a fight companion type deal with live post-fight interviews and an alternate commentary with some laughs no doubt.
UFC hopeful Matt Vaile (11-2) takes on the youthful veteran Will Chope (39-18) in your co-main event as the Aussie welterweight tries to punch his ticket to UFC 284 in Perth early next year.
Unfortunately, the slated co-main event between Elliot Compton and Kieran Joblin is scratched: Compton withdrew today due to injury. Instead promising flyweight Stewart Nicoll (4-0) and opposing Peter Benavente (1-1) have now been handed co-main event duties and both will likely live up to now heightened expectations.
There’s plenty of other talent to keep an eye on with this card from top to bottom - Jamie Sporne and Michael Stanoff to name just a few - so don’t miss a beat.
Regardless of whether you tune in to our shit talk, or just want to see the event as it’s intended, it will be must-see TV.
